Fenway Sports Group, the owners of Liverpool Football Club, have decided to sack Brendan Rodgers.
This is according to talkSPORT, who claim to have been told that Rodgers will be replaced at Anfield - but not by former Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp.
It was revealed earlier today, by Sky Sports, that Klopp would be willing to end his sabbatical early if the “right job” became available in the Premier League. But, in news that will disappoint a significant number of Liverpool fans, it seems FSG are not actively pursuing the revered German coach.

Liverpool denied reports on Wednesday claiming they have approached the former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, but it seems highly unlikely that the Reds - if, indeed, they are planning to sack Rodgers - wouldn’t have made contact with at least one of the aforementioned unemployed coaches.
In terms of obtainable managers in the top-class bracket, both Ancelotti and Klopp appear to tick all the boxes for the Merseyside outfit.

Liverpool set to axe Brendan Rodgers
Speaking after Liverpool’s uninspiring penalty shoot-out victory over Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup third round last night, talkSPORT’s Merseyside correspondent Graham Beecroft said: “John W Henry would have looked at that performance and thought, ‘this is not good enough and a change has to be made’, and I understand that is going to happen.
“In fact, the club board were split in what to do with Brendan Rodgers, but the power base in Boston decided before this game they were going to make the change.
“This result will simply have reinforced the fact they feel they have to do that."
Klopp is not coming to Anfield
Beecroft also stated that Klopp will not be the next manager of Liverpool.
“Liverpool swiftly denied any talks with Carlo Ancelotti when the rumours became public, however you might remember Jurgen Klopp has been linked with the Liverpool job for quite some time and they’ve never issued any statement regarding that, so Liverpool fans saw that as being a little bit fishy,” he added.
“Unless something happens, whereby Ancelotti says no, that will be the only thing that will save Brendan, and even then, he would only stay in the short term.
“One thing I can tell you is that Jurgen Klopp will not be the next Liverpool manager.”
