Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has lashed out at tough-tackling Bundesliga players and expressed his concern that his France international Franck Ribery is a particular target for rough treatment.

Hannover´s Altin Lala was sent off on Saturday for fouls against Bayern players in a game won 3-0 by the Bavarians but Hitzfeld is particularly concerned at the treatment meted out to 24-year-old Ribery.

Hitzfeld, echoing recent remarks from Germany coach Joachim Low who recently hinted that there were too many players in the league who did not know how to tackle, said: "Franck cannot be stopped by fair means. I am a bit worried about him and such a player needs protection."
