Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes goalkeeper David de Gea can win the Red Devils the Premier League title this season.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the Scotsman, who secured an incredible 13 league championships in charge of the Old Trafford outfit, has insisted that his former club are in a 'good position' in their pursuit of success under Louis van Gaal.
Following their victory over Southampton last weekend, United currently sit in second place in the Premier League table. As a result, Van Gaal's side are just two points behind rivals Manchester City, who were beaten on home soil at the hands of West Ham United in their last outing.

Ferguson certainly believes United are contenders and has tipped goalkeeper De Gea to lead the challenge on the domestic scene.
Speaking at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester last night, the legendary ex-manager stated: "I think De Gea can actually win us the league. We are second in the league.
"We are in a good position because, (leaders Manchester) City hadn't lost a game until last week and then United won at Southampton and the whole thing changes round.
"Chelsea have lost a couple of games, Arsenal have lost a game, if you are there around New Year's Day then they will have a good chance."
De Gea key
Ultimately, Ferguson is right. It was De Gea who helped secure the club's place in the Champions League and the Spaniard will now be determined to go one better in Manchester this season.
The former Atletico Madrid man is one of the best 'keepers in the game and will only go from strength-to-strength this term. United are by no means the finished article, but with De Gea between the sticks, they have a chance of returning to the summit of the table sooner rather than later.
