Cristiano Ronaldo has spoken positively about his relationship with former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney, and he believes the two may play football together again in the future.
The superstar duo were part of a lethal attacking lineup constructed by Sir Alex Ferguson in the noughties, and both men arguably still rank amongst the best players in the world.
It’s fair to say that Ronaldo’s achievements in the sport have overshadowed those of his old partner in crime since his move to Real Madrid, but the Portuguese striker still has a lot of time for Rooney’s abilities.

As relayed by The Sun, Ronaldo said: “I miss playing with Rooney. Maybe we will play together again one day.
"He was the kid of England, everyone loved him. He was so powerful I was calling him 'Pitbull.' The power of Wayne Rooney is his mentality and strength and he never stops.
"He's a fantastic team player and he scores. He's a fantastic boy and he helped me a lot when he came to join us in Manchester."
Ronaldo’s comments are sure to strike a chord with Rooney, who is struggling to fire on all cylinders this season having been handed the number one forward role at United.
The presence of young Frenchman Anthony Martial has relieved the England skipper of some of the pressure that was steadily building on his shoulders, but even so, United, and indeed Louis van Gaal, are going to want to see results soon.
With regards to Ronaldo’s comments about playing with Rooney again in the future, they’re sure to be scrutinised by those anticipating a return to Manchester for the reigning Ballon d’Or champion.
If and when the move ever happens it will be welcomed by all those associated with Old Trafford, though there’s obviously a good deal of legwork to be done before that becomes a possibility.
United fans, do you think Ronaldo will ever return to the Red Devils? Could he and Rooney strike up another partnership? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.
