Sampdoria striker Antonio Cassano is confident he will soon be back in the Italy team and hopes former team-mate Francesco Totti will reconsider his retirement from international football.

Cassano and Totti had tense relations when they played together at Roma and neither player was in Roberto Donadoni´s Italy squad on Saturday for next Wednesday´s friendly game against Hungary in Budapest.

Cassano told www.sampdoria.it: "I am sorry he left the national team. Francesco is one of the best players to have represented Italy alongside (Roberto) Baggio in the last 15 to 20 years. But sometimes in life you can change your mind."
