French teenager Anthony Martial has hit the ground running since joining Manchester United on transfer deadline day.

The 19-year-old has scored four goals in five appearances for the Red Devils since his £36 million move from AS Monaco.

However, the forward is struggling to learn English and finds it difficult to communicate with team-mates and coaching staff.

Following advice from his compatriot and United team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin, Martial has undertaken a quite unconventional approach to beating the language barrier.

According to the Mirror - who quote the Daily Star Sunday - the French international is using video bingo to help him grasp the language.

Schneiderlin, a summer signing from Southampton, has advised Martial to work on his numbers before moving on to letter and words.

A source is quoted as saying: "Anthony is determined to learn enough English to get him going. He struggles but he wants to do something about it.

"The lad is lucky to have someone like Morgan around - he really is his eyes and ears. Morgan reckons it's best for Anthony to work on his numbers before moving on to letters and small words.

"He's a cracking young lad but for some reason English just seems to have passed him by."

NO ISSUE

United staff, players and supporters will see no problem with Martial's language issues if he can continue to produce performances of his current standard.

Despite failing to find the net in the 3-0 win against Sunderland, he was on hand to provide an assist for Wayne Rooney's first Premier League goal of the season.

His pace and willingness to run in behind the defence has brought a different element to United's attack and has been vital in helping the Red Devils climb to the summit of the table.

The Red Devils' next challenge is to kick-start their Champions League campaign with a home tie against Wolfsburg on Wednesday, before a trip to Arsenal next weekend.
