Juan Mata could embarrass Jose Mourinho claims Garth Crooks

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata would embarrass Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho should he lead the Red Devils to Premier League title success this season, according to BBC pundit Garth Crooks.

As reported by the BBC, the football analyst claims Mata's recent performances have helped 'transform' United's campaign.

The Old Trafford outfit overhauled rivals Manchester City at the summit of the division after picking up a 3-0 victory over rivals Sunderland this past weekend. Mata was instrumental throughout, scoring the club's third and final goal, and Crooks has suggested that the Spanish playmaker could embarrass Blues boss Mourinho.

With United leading the way, Chelsea have endured a torrid start to the campaign and currently find themselves in 15th place in the division - eight points behind Van Gaal's side.

On the subject of Mata, Crooks stated: "It is with some irony that I find Chelsea struggling at one end of the table and Manchester United on top. It would be remiss of me not to mention Juan Mata at this point; the man who Mourinho couldn't wait to get out of the revolving door at Stamford Bridge.

"It has been Mata's consistent performances for the Red Devils under Louis van Gaal that have helped transform their season. Mata was instrumental in United's victory over Sunderland and should they win the title, his departure could prove to be Mourinho's final embarrassment."

Class of Mata

It's hard to argue with Crooks at this stage. Mata has been terrific of late and continues to show his class and creativity for the Red Devils.

With his compatriot Pedro struggling to find his best form at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho may well be regretting the decision to offload Mata. Of course, last season, as Chelsea cruised to the title, these types of questions weren't brought up, but the dynamics in the division have changed in the early stages of this campaign.

Mata really could be the spark for the Red Devils in their pursuit of title success and it would prove a nightmare for Mourinho and co. at the Bridge.
