Le Mans set the pace in France

Published Add your comment

Le Mans are the surprise pacesetters in France´s Ligue 1 after they maintained their 100% start to the season with a 2-1 win over a Bordeaux side that had also not dropped a point at the start of play.

Bordeaux, now coached by former Manchester United defender Laurent Blanc, have been tipped to do well this season but many will be surprised by the performance of unfashionable Le Mans, a town more famous for motor racing than football.

Another former United player, David Bellion, grabbed an early goal to give hosts Bordeaux the advantage but then goalkeeper Ulrich Rame got his marching orders.
