Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge paid a glowing tribute to Mehmet Scholl as the much-decorated midfielder prepared to pull on the Bavarian club´s jersey for the final time on Wednesday night.

Scholl played for Bayern for 15 seasons, winning a record eight Bundesliga titles, the 2001 Champions League, the 1996 UEFA Cup and the DFB-Pokal on five occasions.

Rummenigge was full of praise for the midfield general as his team prepared to face Barcelona in the inaugural Franz Beckenbauer Cup, telling www.fcbayern.t-com.de: "Bayern Munich Football Club seeks to build partnerships with its players, and Mehmet fulfilled his side of the partnership with great commitment and fairness."
