Without doubt one of the biggest stories of the weekend, and one that has naturally spilled over into Monday, is the rumour that Liverpool are considering a move for Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes. The Spaniard is out of favour at Old Trafford, and ESPN claim to have been told by ‘sources’ that Liverpool are looking into the possibility of taking advantage of the situation. Having ‘sources’ as your evidence is about as vague as it could possibly be, so we’re reluctant to back the idea, though with Valdes’ experience and his current malaise, it looks as though anything could happen. In other news, Brendan Rodgers may be under the cosh from the stands, but the players remain united behind him. That’s the opinion of Lucas Leiva, who has said he and his teammates were trying to make everything right following their slow start to the season.
