Manchester United fans, good morning!
There are few things in life more difficult to tackle than a Monday at the beginning of a long working week, but you can take comfort in the fact that there’s plenty of interesting football news doing the rounds.
It’s our job to siphon through that news and put it all in one easy-on-the-eye round-up. Read on below for all the latest.
Draxler praise from LVG
With Manchester United gearing up for their second Champions League group game Louis van Gaal has singled out Julian Draxler as Wolfsburg’s dangerman.
The forward has been sporadically linked with the Red Devils over the course of his career, and Van Gaal described him as a very good player, whilst also comparing him to new United striker Anthony Martial.
"Draxler was a very young talent when I was in charge of Bayern, so I know him," Van Gaal told his club's official website, as per FourFourTwo.
"He has to go on a long road like Martial, although it could be a little bit shorter because he has been playing longer on that level.
"He is a very good player."
High praise indeed, but it will take more than Draxler for Wolfsburg to derail Van Gaal’s Mancunian Lokomotiv.
Moving on, and Gary Neville has expressed his surprise that United are sitting top of the league, despite the obvious fact that he’s a big fan of the club.
The Red Devils beat Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday to climb to pole position in the table, but the former Old Trafford man said the ‘sea was still choppy’, with both Man City and Chelsea extremely inconsistent thus far.
Martial's Bingo lingo
Meanwhile, Anthony Martial is settling into English life nicely and is using video bingo to help him adapt to the language.
The Frenchman, who of course transferred to Manchester during the summer, has adopted the unconventional approach to becoming bilingual, although he is also utilising the fact that he has a compatriot in the form of Morgan Schneiderlin.
