Rafael van der Vaart has declared he is "determined to leave" Hamburg after Valencia reportedly tabled a 14million euro (£10.5million) bid for the star playmaker.
Hamburg vice-chairman Dietmar Beiersdorfer on Monday confirmed Valencia´s approach for Van der Vaart in an interview with the Bundesliga club´s website, www.hsv.de.
Beiersdorfer revealed they had turned down the bid, but on Tuesday Van der Vaart - who has a Spanish mother - told German newspaper Hamburger Abendblatt: "I am determined to leave and Valencia would be a dream for me. If I have to stay at Hamburg, that would be very painful for me."
