Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey believes his side can do what the Golden State Warriors did last season, win the NBA Championship when nobody expected it.
Entering last season, the Warriors would have probably been picked to win the NBA Championship by only a couple of people. By the end of the season, they were exactly that.
Before the start of the new season, Morey believes his side can be the next side to replicate this kind of success when nobody was expecting it.

Morey said, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle: “You go back a year and look at Golden State. They pretty much brought their same group back, plus a point guard, Shaun Livingston. They weren’t the favorites of a lot of people. They came together quickly. They had a great season. A lot of their improvement was just in everyone being together for another year.
“That plus (the addition of) Ty (Lawson) and good health are the main areas for us.”
Morey believes the side he has right now are good enough to win a championship, even if they don't win it this year. And if they don't, he would like to bring back the majority of the roster for another attempt. I suppose if you don't have the confidence in your own side to go all the way, then you would be a bad General Manager, but there is logic behind this thought process.
The Rockets had one of the top ten defenses in the league last season. A team which went all the way to the Conference Finals after winning 56 games. Other teams in the league may look stronger, but no wonder Morey is driven with confidence entering this season.
He said: "This is the first time I feel like, without any changes, we’re good enough to win it.”
