Manchester United playmaker Juan Mata has updated his blog following the 3-0 win over Sunderland which took the Red Devils to the top of the Premier League table.
Goals from Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney and Mata helped Louis van Gaal's side pick up their fourth straight league victory to take them to the top for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club two seasons ago.
The Spanish international was naturally delighted with the win, ahead of Manchester United's Champions League showdown against Wolfsburg on Wednesday, while he also reserved praise for one of the Red Devils' youngest stars.
Pereira was an unused substitute in the win at Old Trafford but managed to get on their scoresheet in the 3-0 Capital One Cup against Ipswich last week via a free-kick, which it was later revealed Mata had let him take after the Brazilian had impressed him in training.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his Premier League debut this term but Mata insists that it won't be long before he's a household name.
“With his great goal, Andreas Pereira showed everyone how talented he is," he wrote. "He’s eager to keep growing as a player and I’m sure he will keep contributing good things to the team.”
Things don't get any easier for Manchester United after their must-win game against Wolfsburg as they take on rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
The Gunners are three points back from Van Gaal's side with seven games gone, and Mata wants to keep hold of top spot going into another international break.
"At the end of the week we will visit Arsenal. It’s a big game, no doubt, and we will fight to defend the top place before the international break. Personally, I like playing at the Emirates, and I’m sure it’s going to be a good game… I hope United win."
