Kurt Zouma is the future of Chelsea while John Terry is now in the past, according to BBC pundit Garth Crooks.
As per BBC Sport, Crooks claims that the talented Frenchman is going from strength-to-strength in west London, stating that Blues boss Jose Mourinho made the right decision to leave captain John Terry out of the side in the club's fixture with Newcastle United at St James' Park on Saturday evening.
Zouma, who started and scored against Arsenal the previous week, was at fault for Newcastle's opening goal, but recovered well to help his side salvage a point.

Terry, on the other hand, has had to watch on from the bench in recent times and may well find opportunities hard to come by as he enters the final stages of his wonderful career.
Crooks is certainly hoping to see Zouma star week in, week out, as he stated: "It was a brave decision by Jose Mourinho to again leave out John Terry for Kurt Zouma, but one that was totally justified. Yes, the youngster will make mistakes, a feature demonstrated when Chelsea conceded their first goal, however that is not the point.
"Zouma is getting better with every game and Chelsea look like a team that no longer has to worry about pace in the opposition ranks. His sensational 50-yard pass to Eden Hazard was the trigger for Chelsea's success and resulted in Ramires's stunning goal.
"The point is, and unpalatable as it might seem for some, Zouma is the future and Terry is the past. Time, I'm afraid, catches up with all of us in the end."
Zouma has a great deal to learn, but he's not going to be able to do that by watching on from the sidelines. The towering defender is one of the most exciting young players in England's elite division, so there's no reason why Mourinho shouldn't hand him a leading role throughout the course of the season.
Of course, Mourinho should utilise Terry at times, but the former England international can't go on forever. With Zouma impressing, the veteran's days at the Bridge may well be numbered. There's a chance that this season could be Terry's last in west London.
