Anthony Martial will bring glory days back to Manchester United

Anthony Martial has taken to the Premier League like a duck to water and is scoring goals for fun.
He is already a huge player for Manchester United and has scored four goals in five games.

Fans and pundits alike questioned United and Louis van Gaal when Martial arrived from AS Monaco for £36 million and labelled the transfer as a panic buy and a sign of desperation.

It may have been a panic buy but it was certainly a good one and the teenager is flourishing with the Red Devils.

He is an excellent young player and gives the team a different dimension. His explosive pace means he is a menace to defenders and he loves to play on the last man and run in behind.

The signing of Martial has meant there is less pressure on captain Wayne Rooney, who can now play in his favoured number ten position. They seem to be building a good partnership and with Rooney’s intelligence, vision and class he will no doubt create chances for the young Frenchman.

Martial had a dream debut and came on as a substitute to replace Juan Mata in the match against Liverpool.

He only played for 25 minutes but scored a beauty to wrap up the win for his new side.

He showed good feet, close control and a cool, composed head in front of goal.

This gave him a great platform to work from and gave him the confidence to continue his impressive start. He bagged two goals in the 3-2 win against Southampton and then scored United’s third as a substitute, against Ipswich Town in the League Cup.

Martial has been likened to Premier League great and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and there are certainly similarities between the two players.

Henry was world class in front of goal and as cool as cumber in the box. He would not panic when given the opportunity and his explosive speed would often leave him one on one with the keeper. He would play on the last defender similar to Martial and use his pace to leave the defenders for dead.

Both originate from France too and so have the international connection.

Martial has proven all his doubters wrong and in this Manchester United team he will be provided with numerous chances. He is only 19 and will only improve, but he already looks a great signing for the Red Devils.

With the lack of options for United upfront Martial will no doubt get a lot of game time and if he can keep performing to this standard, his goals could fire United to the title.
