FC Groningen have signed Swedish striker Marcus Berg on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old makes the move from IFK Gothenburg in his homeland, and will join up with his new team-mates following the league match against Djurgarden on August 16.

Berg has impressed in the Allsvenskan this season scoring 13 goals in 16 appearances, and IFK´s director of sport, Haakon Mild told the club´s official website, www.ifkgoteborg.se: "We tried to persuade him to stay at least until the end of the season, it would have been positive for Marcus´ development and also improved our own chances of a higher ranking in the Allsvenskan."
