Holland coach Marco van Basten has expressed his delight after bringing Ruud van Nistelrooy back into the national-team set-up.

The Real Madrid striker, who has not featured for the Holland since the 2006 World Cup, came out of international retirement at the end of May and has gone straight into the 33-man provisional squad for the friendly against Switzerland on August 22.

"I am of course happy that he told us that he was willing to play for the Oranje again," Van Basten told Rot Weiss, the Swiss FA magazine. "We of course looked at his achievements in Madrid and we are very positive about that."
