Steven Gerrard believes Jose Mourinho would be an excellent fit for Liverpool if the current Chelsea boss fancies a stint at Anfield in the future.
Gerrard admitted he would have enjoyed playing under Mourinho - it almost happened after the all-action midfielder submitted a transfer request in a bid to join the Blues in 2005 - and believes the revered Portuguese coach would be able to work his magic on Merseyside.
The 35-year-old is now plying his trade away from Anfield, with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy, but still keeps a close eye on his former employers and teammates from his new home in the United States.

Liverpool must improve to attract Mourinho
However, it seems unlikely that Mourinho would agree to join Liverpool unless they stood a serious chance of winning major honours.
The Reds have a rich history, but it’s now 25 years since they last won a league title - although they did come mightily close in both 2009 and 2014.
Since winning the Champions League with FC Porto in 2004, Mourinho has only joined clubs with serious ambitions of winning both their domestic titles and the Champions League.
Liverpool, as they stand today, are not quite at that level.
But Liverpool’s next manager, presuming Brendan Rodgers is sacked before Christmas, will be tasked with ensuring the Reds get back to where their passionate supporters feel they belong.
Liverpool fans: would Jose Mourinho turn your team into serious contenders for both the Premier League and Champions League - or would it be a disaster? Have your say by leaving a comment in the box below!
