Far from a household name, the French-born Tunisian international Wahbi Khazri has been the standout performer in Ligue 1 so far this season and he produced another match-winning display against French giants Lyon in Bordeaux's 3-1 home win at the weekend.
Willy Sagnol's side has enjoyed mixed successes this season and going into Saturday's match they were still reeling from the 6-1 drubbing against Nice in midweek. Boosted by news that an underperforming Alexandre Lacazette was out with a back injury, Bordeaux got their season back on track with a convincing win over the inconsistent Lyon.
Once again the stand-out performer was their Tunisian magician, Wahbi Khazri who played a decisive role in the win with a goal and two assists.

Playing just behind striker Diego Rolan, he was able to pull the strings and dictate the tempo of the game, while offering an attacking outlet for Sagnol's side. His consistently accurate deliveries from set pieces provided the biggest threat to Lyon and were the source of both of the goals he assisted.
Khazri is a powerfully built playmaker who makes things happen. The timing of his run for his goal against Lyon shows a strikers-like awareness and the cool finish from an acute angle illustrated his quality in the final third.
The main man
The former Bastia man has quickly become Bordeaux's most important player with his creativity and goalscoring abilities. So far this season he leads the way in terms of assists with four and is second in the goalscoring charts with four goals, only behind the in-form Cavani who has six.
It is far too early to say whether the talented Tunisian can maintain his amazing early season form, but at the moment he is the stand-out player in Ligue 1 and Willy Sagnol's Bordeaux will hope that he can remain on top of his game as they try to break into the top half of the league over the coming weeks.
