Gerrard on Mourinho
Steven Gerrard must have had a few unfulfilled dreams over the course of his Liverpool career, but it might surprise supporters to learn that Jose Mourinho managing the club was one.
That’s right, it appears the ex-England captain is just as enamoured with the Special One as everyone else, as he confirmed his belief that Mourinho might have added more trophies to his cabinet had he had a shot with Liverpool.
"The dream for me would have been if Mourinho would have come and maybe sampled Liverpool for a few years," he said.
"I'm sure he could've added a couple of trophies to my collection."
As it turned out that wasn’t to be, and we’ll be the first to declare that the idea of Mourinho managing another Premier League club - other than Chelsea - doesn’t really feel right.
In other Reds news, James Milner has backed his new teammates to thrive under the pressure they’re now under.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has critics regularly baying for his head, but Milner is of the opinion that the spotlight, and subsequent pressure, is inevitable at such a big club. That, of course, doesn’t mean that Rodgers will keep his job if things don’t improve at Anfield.
Lastly, what’s a week without Gary Neville taking a dig at Liverpool? It’s not a usual week, that’s what.
As far as weeks go this one is pretty standard, so inevitably Neville has taken a dig at his old club’s Merseyside rivals.
The former Manchester United right-back said that Liverpool’s clash with Everton would be a mid-table affair, obviously a jibe aimed at their poor league positions.
