One question some WWE fans, including myself, have been asking of late is what is the WWE’s plans regarding Randy Orton?

The Apex Predator recently requested a lighter working schedule, one quite similar to Shawn Michaels’ during his second stint with the company. This has led to the WWE seemingly becoming quite stuck with what to do with Orton.

He recently had quite a forgettable feud with current Mr. Money in the Bank Sheamus, and most recently the Wyatt Family. So do the WWE have any ideas in mind for Orton? Here, I will look at some of the potential ideas they could go with.

Intercontinental Championship

WWE could do what they’ve done with John Cena and take him out of the main title picture while also keeping him relevant by having him hold a smaller championship. To do this, they could have Orton go up against Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Championship.

This would work as Owens and Orton have had a couple of run-ins before, mostly in six-man tag-team matches, but matches all the same.

Tag Team

Speaking of tag teams, it might be an idea to have Orton form a tag team or join a stable. Orton has done well as part of tag teams and stables before.

He was part of rated-RKO with Edge, he was once the Seth Rollins of the Authority and was the ruthless leader of Legacy. Having Orton team with someone on the roster and maybe even put themselves in the tag team title picture, this would be a new idea and keep things fresh.

Open Challenge

One idea the WWE could have is for Orton to answer John Cena’s open challenge. If Orton were to win, it’d give him a new direction and keep him fresh, but if he were to lose it could set up a new feud. Someone could attack Orton and cost him the match to set up a new angle.

Not only would WWE be wasting Randy Orton and time by putting him in with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns feud against the Wyatt’s, but that feud surely needs to end very soon. It’s now boring and quite repetitive, and the whole thing with Chris Jericho was quite confusing, so WWE will need to act on that sooner rather than later.
