Sports fans, a warm welcome.
You lot should know the score by now. If you don’t then it causes virtually no problem as we’re going to tell you what the score is anyway.
Here’s your daily news round-up, complete with a video report and a comments box for all your thoughts and opinions. Yes, it’s as simple as it sounds. Enjoy.
Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose is to undergo surgery on his left eye socket after being elbowed in the face at practise.
According to reports, the point guard will have an operation today and any timetable as to when he will be available for selection will only become apparent once the surgery is completed.
It’s probably the last thing Rose wanted ahead of the new season, with his recent career having been blighted by issues including an anterior cruciate ligament issue and a tear to the meniscus in his right knee. Not good in the slightest.
In other news, the Cleveland Cavaliers are to be without shooting guard Iman Shumpert for as long as three-and-a-half months, as he will go in for surgery on an injury sustained to his wrist.
The news was a blow for the Cavs dealt just before their training camp in preparation for the 2015/16 NBA season, with it said that the 25-year-old will have an operation to right the wrongs today.
Ball with the Patriots
Meanwhile, in the NFL, the New England Patriots worked out running back Montee Ball yesterday, with the 24-year-old still looking for a new franchise having been cut by the Denver Broncos.
It’s far from confirmation that a signing is imminent, but the rumours do suggest something might well be on the horizon.
It could be that the Pats are looking to find cover for LeGarrette Blount and Dion Lewis, but we’ll have to wait to get more on that.
Bears to trade Forte?
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bears have placed Matt Forte on the trading block as they attempt to recover from their terrible start to the new NFL campaign.
Currently sitting at 0-3, it’s all hands to the pumps for the franchise, with both Jared Allen and Jon Bostic already having been traded off. Forte is one of their most talented players, but the running back might not escape the chop.
