Laurent Blanc´s hopes of overhauling Bordeaux´s squad have been shattered by the news that the club will only be buying one player this summer.

Blanc, appointed in June when Ricardo was dismissed, has been deprived of the funds required to bring in new players after Bordeaux finished outside of the Champions League-qualifying positions in sixth.

The club can only stretch to signing a defender, according to chairman Jean-Louis Triaud, who told L´Equipe: "We will sort out the case for a central defender.
