Bayern boss fires out warning shot

Published Add your comment

Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has fired out a warning to their Bundesliga rivals, insisting the club are back to their best.

Last season was one to forget for the Bavarians, who lost their league crown to Stuttgart and missed out on a place in the Champions League after a fourth-placed finish. But a 4-1 victory over Werder Bremen in the quarter-finals of the German League Cup last Saturday gave the fans a lift with the new season less than three weeks away.

They now face Bundesliga champions Stuttgart in the last four on Wednesday, and Hitzfeld admitted: "The final is our aim. We can send out a signal which says FC Bayern are to be reckoned with once again."
