Jose Mourinho told Nemanja Matic he takes too many touches

Jose Mourinho’s decision not to play a string of first-team stars during the Champions League clash against Porto this week was a surprise, but what he said to Nemanja Matic before axing him delves even further into the realms of the unexpected. According to reports, the Special One told Matic that he needed too many touches to control the ball, which is sort of unfair given that he was perhaps the star performer of last season. In any case Mourinho’s certainly in a rut at Stamford Bridge at the moment - it should be an interesting next few weeks. Meanwhile, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has offered his opinion on the Special One, and it’s that he’s really not that special. The St. Mary’s boss admitted Mourinho was great at some things, but guarded against the sort of self-appraisal that his Chelsea counterpart is known for.
