Jamie Carragher says Everton are 'favourites' for Merseyside derby

Published Add your comment

Jamie Carragher is about as staunch as you get as a Liverpool supporter, but even he thinks that Everton are heading into this weekend’s Merseyside derby as favourites. The Anfield legend, now, of course, a pundit for Sky Sports, wrote in his weekly column that he sees Everton as the favourites for the clash, despite the fact Liverpool are the ‘bigger’ club. The match will play out at Goodison Park, potentially giving the Toffees the edge, and Liverpool are hardly in good form heading into proceedings. Meanwhile Brendan Rodgers was ostracised on Twitter last night for playing Emre Can in defence against Swiss side Sion. Liverpool were unable to best their opponents in the Europa League encounter, but it was Rodgers’ decision to not hand Can a midfield role that was scrutinised the most.
