Victor Valdes has taken to Twitter to thank fans for their continued support, days after he was left out of Manchester United’s official squad photograph for the 2015-16 campaign.
The ostracised Spanish goalkeeper was the only notable absentee in the squad photo, having been banished to the Under-21 setup by the incensed Louis van Gaal.
Valdes fell out with Van Gaal last season after allegedly refusing to play in an Under-21 match and was subsequently told he could leave Old Trafford in the summer.

Van Gaal left Valdes out of the Manchester United squad for the pre-season tour to the USA, moved his kit to the Under-21 dressing room, replaced him with Argentina international Sergio Romero, and came close to offloading him to Besiktas last month - only for the transfer to collapse at the last minute after the Turkish club reportedly changed terms in the goalkeeper’s contract.
Despite a succession of blows, Valdes still appears to be in relatively good spirits - even though it was also revealed this week that Van Gaal has banned him from being at Carrington at the same time as Manchester United’s first-team stars.
The former Barcelona shot-stopper is still picking up his weekly pay cheque, though, and isn’t doing very much at all to earn it - apart from keeping himself fit and in shape for his next employers.
Valdes' latest tweet
“4.00 pm. Done! training finish for today,” Valdes wrote on Twitter on Thursday, “Thanks Alan Fettis! Tomorrow Again !Thanks everybody for your support”.

Manchester United fans - and supporters of other clubs, namely Barcelona - then replied to Valdes.
Here are some of the best tweets.
It’s safe to assume that Valdes will never make another senior appearance for the Red Devils, but the 33-year-old still has an awful lot to offer a top club and will be a shrewd signing for any team prepared to take a gamble on him.
