Juan Mata may be a masterful technician on the football pitch, but he can’t do the business after having gone through the sick-inducing ‘Dizzy Penalty’ challenge.
The Manchester United playmaker is the latest star to have had a crack at spinning countless times around a football, only to attempt to kick another stationary football into an empty net.
The 'Dizzy Penalty'
Though it sounds simple - particularly for someone as eloquently gifted as the diminutive Spaniard in question - it’s been proved to be anything but, and Mata’s effort is testament to the fact that significant emphasis should be placed on the ‘challenge’ aspect of the task’s title.

Captured on video - available to watch below - as part of Global Goals’ ongoing series, Mata can barely keep his feet after undertaking the initial phase of the assignment, and then loses them altogether when he actually kicks the ball.
Fortunately, the former Chelsea ace isn’t nearly so much of a laughing stock when he’s on the pitch - he appears to have re-found his Midas touch this season.
Under Louis van Gaal this term Mata has been an integral part of the Red Devils side and finally seems to have nailed down a niche position for himself.
That comes after a testing two years for the 27-year-old in which he was first flogged by Jose Mourinho and then questioned by critics after a difficult beginning to his life at Old Trafford.
On his day, Mata can dictate play in the final third at an almost unparalleled level. He’ll certainly be a key instrument in any sort of title challenge United throw forward this campaign.
United fans, how important is Mata for you? Could you take a better ‘Dizzy Challenge’ penalty than him? Let us know in the comments box below.
