Firstly, congratulations to Southampton. They will not get the credit they deserve for Saturday's victory over the champions. They were sharp, clinical and well organised in defence. The same cannot be said of Chelsea.
It is up for debate whether or not Mourinho has indeed lost the dressing room, but his players are doing him no favours at the moment. No team has finished above fifth after a points total this low at this stage. The fight is on for Chelsea and based on this; it is a fight they are unprepared for.
Watching Mourinho's post-match press conference, I sat stunned. I have seen Jose's rants before and no doubt will again. But, this one was different. He was clearly desperate, a situation and state of mind he is not at all familiar or comfortable with.
To come out and openly blame the referee at least seven times in seven minutes is bizarre at best - and at worst, it's crazy. Especially considering Southampton had two penalty appeals themselves waved away. To base the loss on the one penalty decision is not the behaviour of a winner, which Mourinho is.
Based on this performance, even Aston Villa (one of the few teams below Chelsea) will be thinking they can get a result. The immediate future is going to very interesting and will, no doubt, be under huge scrutiny. Just how big a fine is on Mourinho's desk on Monday will be just as interesting.
I am not suggesting that he will sacked, he is too clever for that...Chelsea are too clever for that. However, unless things change and quickly, he may be forced to do what he claims he will not - and walk away from the club he loves...again.
