Gary Neville has bet Piers Morgan a whopping £5000 that Manchester United will finish above Arsenal in the Premier League table this season, despite the Red Devils’ 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.
Morgan - arguably Arsenal’s most passionate and outspoken celebrity supporter - goaded Neville by posting a photo of yesterday’s win, alongside the caption: “A very good morning to all my Utd friends. cc @WayneRooney @henrygayle @usainbolt @EamonnHolmes @GNev2 @rioferdy5.”
Neville immediately bit back, tweeting: “Level on points! Bet United finish above Arsenal. 5k to Manchester Children's Hospital loser?”

United blown away by Arsenal
Arsenal now find themselves above Manchester United, by virtue of their superior goal difference, following Sunday’s emphatic victory in north London.
The Red Devils were blown away by Arsene Wenger’s men within 20 scintillating minutes, during which Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil, in particular, were all exceptional.
Manchester United’s players, though, helped their opponents with their lacklustre start to the match - this was arguably the team’s worst defensive performance of the Van Gaal era.
Arsenal looked like genuine title contenders
Only one of the teams at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday looked capable of challenging for the Premier League title, but the next task for Arsenal is proving this result - and performance - wasn’t merely a one-off.
United, meanwhile, face back-to-back daunting league fixtures against Everton and Manchester City after the international break.
The results in those two matches will determine whether Van Gaal’s men are serious title challengers, or mere pretenders.
