Lazio midfielder Ricardo Kishna has revealed he turned down the opportunity to sign for Arsenal during the summer transfer window, citing a great proposal from the Italians as the reason.
The Dutch youngster confirmed he had snubbed the Gunners, as well as Juventus and Roma, in order to sign for Lazio - he completed a move for a poultry £2.9million.
"I had a good rapport with the Biancocelesti from the first moment," he said.
"I was a fan of Serie A and Lazio were one of the most entertaining sides to watch. they had a fresh and enjoyable style of football, plus they scored lots of goals.
"When I met the Coach and director of sport in Brussels, they convinced me straight away.
"I thought this proposal was very important for me because I was looking for a club, but also people to work with who would satisfy me.
"They wanted me because I could cover any of the attacking positions. For Lazio I turned down sides like Juventus, Roma and Arsenal."
With spirits high at the Emirates Stadium after the weekend win over Manchester United, there’s no real chance of disgruntled fans voicing criticisms of Wenger. All the same, it could turn out to be a missed venture.
New deal for Sanchez
In other news, the Gunners are to hand Alexis Sanchez a new lucrative deal in a bid to rule out the possibility of him leaving.
The Chile international is in line to receive a new five-year deal, and could earn up to £130,000-a-week, according to the Daily Mirror.
Sanchez has been nothing short of a revelation since switching from the Nou Camp in the summer of 2014. Tying him down a new contract will certainly help Wenger’s rapport with the fans.
Morgan's Klopp enthusiasm
In other news, celebrity fan Piers Morgan has maintained his stance that the Gunners should be looking to replace their long-serving manager.
With Liverpool frequently mentioned in connection with the currently jobless Jurgen Klopp, Morgan said he wanted Arsenal to land the German. Disclaimer: There’s practically no chance of that happening.
