The penultimate TakeOver event of the year takes place on Wednesday, with Sasha Banks aiming to dethrone Bayley in the main event of TakeOver: Respect.
It’s the first time since its inception that we will see a Diva’s main event, Bayley defends her NXT Women’s Championship against Sasha in a 30 minute Ironwoman match.
There’s a lot of expectation on their shoulders now, but they’re the perfect women who can handle that sort of pressure.

It’s not the only big match taking place on the night either. The Dusty Rhodes tag team classic will close on the show, with Cody Rhodes and Goldust on hand to present the winners with the trophy.
FINN BALOR & SAMOA JOE VS. THE MECHANICS – DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC SEMI-FINAL
The tournament is now in the final stages with Balor and Joe looking to reach the finals. They won’t have an easy ride though as they’re up against perhaps the breakout team of the tournament in Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder.

Both teams have picked up impressive wins over some big-name teams such as Enzo Amore and Big Cass. The Vaudevillians – who are the current NXT Tag Team Champions – were defeated by Dawson and Wilder so you do have to take them seriously.
I still maintain that Balor and Joe shouldn’t win this tournament. It’s the perfect set-up for one of them to turn heel and create an NXT Championship match for London. It would be a shame to see them defeat Dawson and Wilder only for the heel turn to happen.
I believe The Mechanics pick up the big win.
JASON JORDAN & CHAD GABLE VS. BARON CORBIN & RHYNO
Similar to The Mechanics, Jordan and Gable are another team that has broken out in this tournament. The team of Corbin and Rhyno is still very strange, considering how Corbin’s gimmick is ‘The Lone Wolf’.
I don’t think that team will last very long although both teams have picked up big wins in the build-up to this match. The Ascension, as well as Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley, are two of the teams they have managed to overcome.
I would like to see Gable and Jordan picking up a win as they bring something different to the table. I don’t remember the last time we saw a genuine wrestling tag team on NXT without an over the top gimmick.
I can see Jason Jordan & Chad Gable advancing to the final.
DUSTY RHODES TAG TEAM CLASSIC FINAL
This is the match the 16 teams were fighting to compete in and at the minute we have no idea who will compete in this match. All we know is it will be two of four teams with one lucky team receiving the trophy from Cody Rhodes and Goldust at the end of the match.
Based on my predictions, I believe the final will be contested between The Mechanics and Jason Jordan & Chad Gable. I think this is the best way to go as it allows both teams to experience TakeOver a little more and in all honesty, they deserve it.
NXT needs solid tag teams and these are the two teams who can offer a lot to the division. We need the winners to remain a team and I just don’t think Balor and Joe will stick together, neither will Rhyno and Corbin.
If this is the way it goes down it’s down the middle, you can’t decide who the favourite is.
I’d go with who I want to win, and I think Jason Jordan & Chad Gable will be the winners of the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic.
DANA BROOKE VS. ASUKA
A huge night for Asuka, as she makes her in-ring debut at a TakeOver and the fans should be in for a treat.
She has a good opponent in Dana who will definitely try and prove a point that she belongs in the title picture. Right now I don’t think it makes sense for them to hype Asuka up so much to have her lose in her first match.
It’s definitely a possibility as Emma could interfere. I don’t think they’ll go down that route if anything, I think Asuka will manage to take them both out and put on a good showing before eventually moving on to the title picture.
Asuka wins this match for me.
TYLER BREEZE VS. APOLLO CREWS
This is the match I’m most looking forward to alongside the main events – mainly because I’m a huge Crews mark. This is probably the most difficult match to call down the middle considering both men genuinely stand a chance of winning.
On one side, we have Crews who has had a ridiculously impressive start to life on NXT. He’s yet to lose a match and reports suggest he’s set for big things on NXT, so having him lose probably isn’t the way to go.
However, the WWE love throwing curveballs our way.
Breeze lost to Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger in Brooklyn and he probably shouldn’t lose two matches in a row. If there’s anyone on NXT who can ruin your prediction, it’s Breeze. It would be huge for Breeze to halt Crews’ momentum and he could find himself in another championship match.
Regardless of this, I have to stick with Apollo Crews.
BAYLEY © VS. SASHA BANKS – NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP: 30 MINUTE IRONWOMAN MATCH
This is the match fans have been looking forward to for weeks as Bayley and Sasha Banks will compete for 30 solid minutes. That already sound like a match of the night contender as they always step up in every match they’re in, so this should be leaps and bounds better than what we’ve seen over the last year or so.
Although it’s a match to be excited about I do think there’s no sense of unpredictability in it. Bayley won’t lose her title regardless of how talented Sasha is and I am unhappy with how she’s being used on the main roster but dropping back down to NXT and capturing the title is not the way to go.
However, I don’t think it’s going to be smooth sailing. We may see interferences but for me I don’t think we’ll see a clear winner in the match.
I’m going to go with a draw. Both women will have the same number of pinfalls or submissions which in turn means Bayley will retain her championship.
