Dear Brendan Rodgers,
On behalf of all Liverpool fans I would like to say thank you. We would love to be saying thank you for delivering us a few trophies but, sadly, that didn't happen.
But we can thank you for giving us the greatest ever season that a lot of us have ever experienced. The younger generation, those who weren't fortunate enough to witness the Liverpool of the 70s and 80s, don't know what it feels like to win the league and you so nearly delivered it to them.

Those that say: "Luis Suarez was the only reason you almost won the league", are wrong. They obviously didn't follow Liverpool closely that season.
You won Manager of the Year for a reason. Firstly, you managed to keep Luis Suarez at the club in the summer before the season had even started. Yes, you made him train on his own at first but you tamed him and somehow channeled his attitude into a love for the club.

Then there was your trust of the younger players. We saw it in the 13/14 season with Jon Flanagan, who had barely played before that campaign. He was instrumental in our season and you gave him the belief and confidence to play against the likes of David Silva and Alexis Sanchez and mark them out of the game.
Then a number of tactical decisions helped us greatly that season. You identified that Steven Gerrard wasn't quite the player he used to be in the marauding central midfield position. You saw the potential he had in the 'quarterback' role, starting moves with 40-yard passes towards Suarez and Daniel Sturridge. It was a master stroke and a massive factor in our title challenge.
Another fantastic tactical decision was employing Raheem Sterling in behind Sturridge and Suarez. I don't think many managers would have A) seen his potential there or B) have the confidence to play the youngster in such an important position for the team.
His goal against Manchester City and goals against Norwich City almost won us the league. His unbelievable performances were solely down to you. Look at him now at City. He's really struggling being stuck out on the left.
The team spirit that engulfed the squad was magnificent. You can't have a team spirit like that without a good manager. It was just the players that had that sort of spirit. Look at the fans towards the end of the season whenever the team bus approached Anfield. They were lining the streets creating an unbelievable atmosphere hours before kick-off. There was a famous banner throughout the season that said "make us dream." You made us dream.
The passion you had for Liverpool was clear for everyone to see. The way you spoke about the club, you knew what it meant to flow in the footsteps of Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. I can only hope future Liverpool managers have that same mentality.
"Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool, we're on our way to glory..." It didn't seem long ago that we were all singing this. Unfortunately, you couldn't quite lead us to glory and your reign is over. But you made us dream.
You gave have a generation of fans something they've never experienced. We didn't want it to end like this. Every Liverpool fan will be following your every move in your managerial career which is likely to be full of trophies and success.
Thanks for everything.
