Arsenal hero Ian Wright claims Liverpool should hand former player Jamie Carragher a role at the club.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Wright has insisted that it's not the right time for the club to bring former captain Steven Gerrard back to Merseyside, but believes Carragher would be the 'ideal guy' for the Reds in their pursuit of success following the dismissal of Brendan Rodgers.
Enigmatic German coach Jurgen Klopp is the red-hot favourite to replace Rodgers at Anfield, but Wright believes it's just as important for the Liverpool hierarchy to secure the services of Carragher.

Wright stated: "People have tentatively mentioned Steven Gerrard coming back. But while that would be great, he’s only just gone to the States and the time is not right for him.
"Carra is hardly a poor second in anyone’s eyes and Klopp wouldn’t need to worry about having his own potential replacement on his shoulder the minute he walks in either.

"Jamie would be perfect as that link between new and old, the ideal guy to complement a fresh manager and make his rebuilding job that much easier.
"The fella is a Liverpool legend, someone the current players relate to and respect in equal measure and someone who understands the place from top to bottom.
"And that’s why, while Klopp is the right choice as manager, getting Carragher in is just as crucial."
Wright is right
It's difficult to argue with Wright at this stage. Gerrard isn't going to give up on his stint in the US just yet, so hiring Carragher should be the focus. The legendary defender would prove a fine coup for the club, especially if they announce Klopp as their new boss.
The Reds appear to be lacking an identity right now, but forming a partnership between the duo of Klopp and Carragher really would change the dynamics on Merseyside.
Negativity has surrounded Anfield in recent months, but things could be about to change. It would be optimistic to suggest that the Reds could mount a Premier League title challenge this season, but they will be determined to return to Champions League competition sooner rather than later. Klopp and Carragher could be a match made in heaven.
