NFL week five predictions: Falcons and Bengals to roll on

Published Add your comment

With a quarter of the 2015 NFL season now in the books, teams across the league head into week five knowing that any slip-ups could put them in a difficult position for the remainder of the campaign.

There are some big games on the cards this week too with the undefeated Bengals playing host to Seattle and the Patriots taking on the Dallas Cowboys.

So, without further ado, let's take a look at my predictions for the week's action.

Thursday 8th October

Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans

It was another disappointing road loss to the Falcons in game week four for the Texans, so, with the risk of going 1-4 after five games I feel that the Texans will do their utmost to get a home win.

The Colts aren’t great on the road despite their win over the Titans in week three. I believe the Texans will have just too much for the Colts this time out.

Sunday 11th October

Chicago Bears @ Kansas City Chiefs

Neither team is in great form coming into week four but both have lost to tough opposition in recent weeks.

I think the Bears defense will be too strong for the Chiefs to break through and, despite being away from home, the Bears offense will punch right through the Chiefs back-line. A close game but a Bears win.

Seattle Seahawks @ Cincinnati Bengals

One of the best offenses this season in the form of the Bengals welcome one of the toughest defenses in the league when the Seahawks come to town.

The Bengals' passing game will need to be on point to pick off this Seahawk defense, but the Seahawks have a fantastic rushing game which they could use to disrupt the Bengals defense, I think the Bengals will win this…just.

Washington Redskins @ Atlanta Falcons

Possibly the easiest one for me to call, despite the Redskins good start to the season with the Falcons being on their current run and at home I can't see anything but a Falcons win.

Jacksonville Jaguars @ Tampa Bay Buccanneers

Both teams are pretty evenly matched, but I feel that the Jaguars have the slight edge when all players fulfill their potential. For this reason, I think the Jaguars should scrape the win although the Buccaneers at home are tough opposition.

New Orleans Saints @ Philadelphia Eagles

The Saints defense has been their biggest issue so far this season, but after a fantastic win against the Cowboys last time out I think they will kick on from here and make it back to back wins against an Eagles side struggling for consistency.

Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens

Before the last run of fixtures I would have said the Browns would leave Baltimore with a win but, after some defensive frailties against the Chargers, this game will be a lot closer than I first imagined.

I now think the Ravens may have turned a corner and will make it back to back wins in week five.

St. Louis Rams @ Green Bay Packers

I don’t expect any shocks here, the Packers are full of confidence and playing well whilst the Rams are inconsistent at best so far this season. An easy Packers win for me here.

Buffalo Bills @ Tennessee Titans

The Titans had a bye in week four which could help them a great deal against a Bills side run ragged by the Giants. A fairly comfortable Titans win.

Arizona Cardinals @ Detroit Lions

The Lions have been woeful so far this season and I don’t expect things to change, I think an easy Cardinals win here which could spell the end of the Lions season before it has really begun.

New England Patriots @ Dallas Cowboys

The Patriots look better than ever with Brady making pass after pass, They will come up against a tough defensive line in Dallas, but I think they will have enough to overcome them. A close game but a Patriots win.

Denver Broncos @ Oakland Raiders

The Broncos have one of the best defenses in the league and they will need to be on alert when they travel to the Raiders.

The Raiders have impressed whilst disappointing me at the same time, I don’t expect them to give their home fans a win here, Broncos should win by more than 10 points.

San Francisco 49ers @ New York Giants

Eli Manning and co are starting to show what the Giants can do after a sloppy start and I fully expect them to demolish the 49ers.

Monday 12th October

San Diego Chargers V Pittsburgh Steelers

Both of these teams have had mixed fortunes so far this season, but I expect the Steelers to put week four's shock loss behind them by leaving San Diego with the win.

So there is how I think game week five in the NFL will play out, I am likely to be wrong on a few of these as is always the case when I attempt to predict the NFL, otherwise I would be rich man.

Enjoy Game week five and check back here for my predictions in week six.
