Louis van Gaal blasted Victor Valdes in front of his Manchester United teammates after the Spanish goalkeeper conceded a soft goal in the 1-1 home draw against Arsenal last season.
This is according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, who has revealed “the truth” about Valdes’s situation in his latest column for Yahoo Sport.
Valdes and Van Gaal had fallen out before the Premier League fixture against Arsenal on May 17 - due to the goalkeeper’s alleged refusal to play in an Under-21 match - but the former Barcelona star was called upon after David de Gea suffered an injury.

Valdes came on for the final 16 minutes against the Gunners, but conceded a goal just eight minutes into his competitive debut for the Red Devils when Theo Walcott’s cross-cum-shot was diverted into his own net by Tyler Blackett.
Van Gaal pinned the blame on Valdes, according to Balague, and the player was “berated” in front of his teammates inside the Old Trafford dressing room.

Balague writes: “Valdes conceded a goal that he should have prevented and despite his protestations that it was because he had insufficient time to warm up, van Gaal berated him in front of his teammates telling him that, while he might well have been physically fit, not playing in the reserves as he had wanted him to had made him rusty.”
Valdes has to leave Man Utd
Valdes was also selected for Manchester United’s final match of the 2014-15 campaign, against Hull City at the KC Stadium a week later, with De Gea still sidelined through injury.
The 33-year-old kept a clean sheet and produced a couple of decent stops, but also had a couple of fortuitous let-offs.
It would prove to be Valdes’s final appearance for Manchester United, with the goalkeeper now ostracised at Old Trafford following last season’s bust-up with the divisive Van Gaal.
Valdes has no chance of convincing Van Gaal to give him a second chance at United - especially now De Gea is still at the club - so it makes sense for the goalkeeper to do everything in his power to leave Manchester when the transfer window re-opens in January.
