Federico Pastorello posted a photo of himself and Amelia late on Friday night, alongside the caption: “Dinner with #marcoamelia to celebrate the contract with @chelseafc !!! Good luck !! 🇮🇹🇬🇧”
Rumours have been rife in recent weeks that Chelsea were keen to sign the former AC Milan keeper, who left Perugia in the summer, as back-up for Asmir Begovic with Thibaut Courtois currently sidelined through injury.

Jose Mourinho has named 21-year-old Jamal Blackman amongst the Chelsea substitutes in recent weeks, but the Portuguese coach wants a goalkeeper with more experience than the former England Under-19 international if the worst happens and Begovic also suffers an injury.
Courtois. the Blues’ first-choice keeper, is not expected to return to action until December at the earliest after undergoing surgery following a knee injury.
Amelia may never feature for Chelsea
Having named only 19 players over the age of 21 in their 25-man Premier League squad, Chelsea are able to sign and register free agents like Amelia, who was part of Italy’s 2006 World Cup winning squad.
However, there’s a chance he may never feature for Chelsea if Begovic keeps himself fit between now and the end of the year, when Courtois should be back to take his place in between the sticks.
While Begovic has performed reasonably well in recent weeks, the Bosnia and Herzegovina international is not in the same class as Courtois, who is arguably one of the top three goalkeepers in world football at present.
For Chelsea, the sooner they can get the world-class Belgium international back, the better.
