Aalesund nick points in basement battle

Aalesund edged away from the bottom of the Norwegian Tippeligaen after a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Valerenga.

Thor Hogne Aaroy got the only goal in the seventh minute, and Valerenga were unable to get back on level terms.

The result moves Aalesund up a spot to third-bottom, one place and two points behind Valerenga.
