Chelsea have an abundance of problems to tackle at the moment, but sourcing a backup goalkeeper for Asmir Begovic is no longer one of them. The agent of former AC Milan stopper Marco Amelia posted on Instagram last night to confirm that he was out having dinner with his client to celebrate the signing of a Stamford Bridge contract, with Amelia having been on a trial with Jose Mourinho’s side. The 33-year-old was part of Italy’s World Cup-winning squad in 2006, but last season was only playing with amateur Italian outfit Rocca Priora. Safe to say he probably won’t be getting ahead of Begovic. Elsewhere Cesc Fabregas has given Mourinho a staunch backing, describing him as Chelsea’s greatest ever manager. The Special One has naturally come under pressure given his side’s start, but Fabregas described him as the best possible coach to lead the club forward.
