Chelsea fans, you’re almost there!
Of course, I’m referring to the end of the working week which, at this stage, is around 30 hours away (UK schedule). You can manage it, I’m sure, but if you can’t then allow us to give you some motivation.
Below we’ve compiled all the latest, breaking, news. Take it all in and leave thoughts and opinions in the comments box provided.
Chelsea have an abundance of problems to tackle at the moment, but sourcing a backup goalkeeper for Asmir Begovic is no longer one of them.
The agent of former AC Milan stopper Marco Amelia posted on Instagram last night to confirm that he was out having dinner with his client to celebrate the signing of a Stamford Bridge contract, with Amelia having been on a trial with Jose Mourinho’s side.
The 33-year-old was part of Italy’s World Cup-winning squad in 2006 but last season was only playing with amateur Italian outfit Rocca Priora. Safe to say he probably won’t be getting ahead of Begovic.
Elsewhere Cesc Fabregas has given Mourinho a staunch backing, describing him as Chelsea’s greatest ever manager.
The Special One has naturally come under pressure given his side’s start, but Fabregas described him as the best possible coach to lead the club forward. Roman Abramovich might not concur if the current malaise continues for much longer.
Mata on Costa
Lastly, Juan Mata has thrown his support behind international teammate Diego Costa. The Manchester United playmaker stated his belief that the Chelsea striker would come good despite his recent controversies.
Costa has had a tumultuous start to this season and hasn’t really shone for Spain at all since declaring his allegiance for their international side. As a result he's been left out of the squad for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifiers.
