Chelsea have had a terrible start to the season and Jose Mourinho has dropped everyone from John Terry to Eden Hazard in an attempt to kickstart their campaign.

But one person to have escaped the Special One's axe is Branislav Ivanovic, who has continued his amazing run of consecutive Premier League starts despite what many consider to be a series of poor performances.

With summer signing Baba Rahman just itching to get his chance to impress, many Blues fans have been left flabbergasted by Mourinho's continued faith in the Serbia international. But those same fans may have just had their prayers answered.

Ivanovic limped out of Serbia's 2-0 win over Albania in the 65th minute with an alleged hamstring complaint, making him a major doubt for Chelsea's next Premier League game against Aston Villa. And their fans are delighted.

Upon hearing the news, plenty took to Twitter to announce their delight that Mourinho may not be able to call on the right-back when Tim Sherwood's men travel to Stamford Bridge.

But Mourinho has already admitted that Ivanovic has avoided the drop so far because he is concerned Rahman, a £17m addition from FC Augsburg, is struggling to adapt to life in English football.

The Ghana international is yet to appear in the Premier League but has started one game in both the Champions League and the League Cup thus far.

On Rahman, Mourinho said: "Look, because Baba Rahman arrived in the last day because he doesn't know what it is to play in this kind of championship. He had no pre-season with us. He needs time to learn, he needs time to adapt.

"At the same time, every team, except Maccabi Tel Aviv, is a team of giants. And if you don't have a minimum of five tall players good in the air, you are dead in set pieces.

"When I play Azpilicueta on the right and Baba Rahman on the left and I don't play Ivanovic, I have only three, not even four. So we have to think about all the details and I think about all the details."
