Diego Costa admits he was 'overweight' after summer return to Chelsea

Published 1 Comments

Diego Costa’s not had the best of starts to his Chelsea season it’s fair to say, but a new revelation from the striker goes someway to explaining just why. The controversial forward has admitted he was ‘overweight’ before the start of the season, in an effort to take the heat off of under fire boss Jose Mourinho, stating that he and his teammates needed to shoulder most of the blame. Costa revealed he had fallen out of his diet during the summer and wasn’t fully prepared when he came back for pre-season training. Perhaps that’s why he only has two goals in seven appearances this campaign. Moving on, and it appears Chelsea fans - yes, that’s you - are less than happy with the signing of 33-year-old goalkeeper Marco Amelia. It was confirmed yesterday that the former AC Milan stopper - a World Cup winner from 2006 - had signed as backup for Asmir Begovic, but the fan reaction on Twitter was less than complimentary.
