Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke has been handed a new four-year contract after being given a vote of confidence by the Bundesliga club.

The club´s advisory board overwhelmingly approved the decision to extend Watzke´s deal, which was originally due to expire next year.

"Hans-Joachim Watzke took responsibility in the most difficult stage of this club´s history and put a life-endangered BVB back on its feet within the shortest of times," explained president Reinhard Rauball.
