NXT TakeOver: Respect may be in the books, but the superstars and divas were back at Full Sail University the following night for the latest set of tapings.
Three episodes have been taped which will take us through to the end of October as build-up begins for the final TakeOver event of the year. NXT TakeOver: London takes place on December 16 at the Wembley Arena.
The NXT format sees the talent tape around three or four shows in one night before they are rolled out to air on a weekly basis. If you wish to avoid the spoilers for the episode airing on October 14, please turn back now.

It’s NXT Women’s Champion Bayley who opened the show in the first episode and delivered a promo about the Iron Man match that took place at TakeOver. She was then interrupted by Alexa Bliss who even snatched the championship from Bayley.
She then threw it back at Bayley before leaving. It looks as if Bliss could be in the NXT Women’s Championship frame in the coming months. Whether a match between the two at a TakeOver event would actually sell remains to be seen. Although it’s good to see other females entering the picture now.
The NXT Tag Team Champions were in action next as The Vaudevillians defeated the team of Sawyer Fulton and Angelo Dawkins. As entertaining as the Vaudevillians are they need teams to really step up and challenge them on a weekly basis.
After weeks of build-up and plenty of vignettes airing – even at TakeOver: Respect – we finally saw the debut of NXT newest diva, Nia Jax.
Jax is the cousin of WWE legend The Rock, and she managed to pick up a debut win over SHINE talent Evie.
NUMBER ONE CONTENDER
At TakeOver: Respect we saw Samoa Joe declaring his intent to challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship which Balor accepted. However, William Regal had other ideas and told him he’d have to compete in a battle royal and the winner will become the number one contender to the NXT Championship.
At the tapings we had the battle royal in the main event with some big names involved, all trying to earn a championship match which should take place at TakeOver: London. Samoa Joe was obviously in the battle, and he was joined by Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Apollo Crews, Scott Dawson and Dish Wilder.
Other big names were also involved, Blake and Murphy tried their luck as did Enzo Amore and Big Cass. Rhyno, Baron Corbin, Bull Dempsey, Zack Ryder, Mojo Rawley, Tyler Breeze and Tye Dillinger were also the noticeable stars in the match.
It came down to Samoa Joe, Crews, Breeze and Corbin. Breeze was the first to be eliminated and pulled out Joe who then chased Breeze away. This left Corbin and Crews with a glorious opportunity to become the number one contender and it’s Crews who managed to win to a great reaction.
Apollo Crews will now challenge Finn Balor for the NXT Championship, now this is a quick rise to the top.
