Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has revealed the club "are now going to make an effort" to keep David Beckham at the Bernabeu.

The 32-year-old has agreed to join the Los Angeles Galaxy on July 1 after his deal with Real Madrid expires but reports in the Spanish media on Sunday claimed there is a clause in the England midfielder´s Galaxy contract which gives them an option to keep him.

Calderon told Spanish newspaper Marca: "We need to sit down with him (Beckham), his representatives and with (Real Madrid sporting director Predrag) Mijatovic, look at this clause, and decide between us, but for me I would be delighted if he remained at the club."
