Adnan Januzaj scores for Borussia Dortmund against Magdeburg

Published 4 Comments

Manchester United fans who were less than impressed with Louis van Gaal’s decision to send Adnan Januzaj on loan to Borussia Dortmund at the end of the summer transfer window will be even more frustrated this morning.

The Belgium international scored another goal for his loan club on Monday evening - albeit in a friendly against Magdeburg, a club from the third tier of German football - to boost his chances of starting in Dortmund’s next Bundesliga match against Mainz 05 on Friday evening.

Januzaj produces a stylish finish into the bottom corner of the net following good work from Jonas Hofmann and Adrian Ramos, as BVB secured a 2-2 draw which, in truth, was a little disappointing from their perspective. (Scroll down this page to see Januzaj's goal).

Following an excellent start to the 2015-16 campaign, Thomas Tuchel’s men have now failed to win any of their five previous matches.

Keen to get back to winning ways, Tuchel may opt to start Januzaj against his former employers on Friday night - a match that provides a chance for Dortmund to bounce back from their embarrassing 5-1 defeat to Bayern Munich before the international break.

Januzaj is a potential game-changer

Manchester United find themselves in a similar situation after being obliterated by Arsenal in the first half of their 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium.

Van Gaal sent on Antonio Valencia and Marouane Fellaini at half-time in that fixture - and many United fans were wishing the veteran Dutch coach still had Januzaj, a potential game-changer, at his disposal.

Already perturbed by Van Gaal’s decision to send the Belgian starlet to Signal Iduna Park for the season, here are some of the best tweets in response to the 20-year-old’s latest goal.

Van Gaal should have kept Januzaj

Januzaj still lacks consistency but the fact he’s so versatile - capable of playing on either flank, in the No. 10 position and even as a centre-forward - means Van Gaal should have kept him at Old Trafford this term.

With United back in Europe, there would have been plenty of chances for Januzaj at Manchester United this season.

And as the months roll on, Van Gaal will probably regret his snap decision to send the technically-gifted youngster to Dortmund.
