Mamadou Sakho posts on Instagram after first training session under Jurgen Klopp

Published 23 Comments

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho has posted a photo of himself, Daniel Sturridge and Dejan Lovren on Instagram after their first training session under new manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 25-year-old - who played the full 90 minutes for France against Armenia last week, but didn’t feature for Les Blues against Denmark on Sunday - posted the photo alongside the message: “Back to training !! #Liverpool #LFC #YNWA”.

The photo, an hour after being uploaded, has already received 10,000 likes and over 100 comments - mainly from Liverpool fans debating whether Lovren, who deleted his Instagram account last month following abuse from supporters, will flourish under Klopp or not.

Lovren, who has struggled at Anfield following his £20 million move from Southampton in the summer of 2014, hasn’t featured for Liverpool since September after being stretched off with an injury against Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup.

Former Red, Mark Lawrenson, told the Liverpool Echo at the time that Sakho’s injury may have been a “blessing in disguise” - and most of the Anfield faithful would have agreed with the BBC pundit.

Sakho and Lovren to flourish under Klopp?

Lawrenson said it would provide a chance for Sakho to re-establish himself as a first-team regular - and, indeed, before the international break the Frenchman played the full 90 minutes in all three of Liverpool’s most-recent fixtures.

Lovren and Sakho are both in contention to start against Tottenham this weekend, in Klopp’s first match since replacing Brendan Rodgers last week.

Rodgers went for a back-three comprised of Sakho, Martin Skrtel and Emre Can in his final match in charge of the Reds - against local rivals Everton at Goodison Park - but the innovative Klopp may opt to shake things up from the very start of his reign.
