Portugal have called on three newcomers to cover for the suspended Cristiano Ronaldo and a rash of injuries as they prepare for their Euro 2008 qualifier against Belgium on June 2 and the friendly against Kuwait three days later.

Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has chosen to call up three debutants - Porto defenders Bruno Alves and Jose Bosingua, and Sevilla´s Dudu - as well as handing a recall to Qatar-based Joao Tomas.

"These players have had brilliant performances with their teams," Scolari said. "This call-up is to give them an opportunity and to see how they performances within the national team."
