Recent reports have claimed Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has placed Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone at the top of his wanted list, should Jose Mourinho need culling.
Stamford Bridge officials were forced to meet after Mourinho oversaw his team's sixth defeat in 12 matches against Southampton, leaving their Premier League title chances in tatters.
But while the club chose to back the Special One, it seems they are already putting together a plan to replace him.

It is ironic then, that Mourinho has instructed his scouts to keep tabs on no less than three Atletico Madrid stars with Antoine Griezmann, Diego Godin, and Koke believed to be on his wish list.
According to a report in AS, Chelsea are expected to return to the Vicente Calderon in the near future to undertake more transfer business with regards to at least one of the aforementioned trio.
Chelsea have developed a close relationship with the 2014 La Liga champions, originally loaning Thibaut Courtois for three consecutive years before agreeing to pay the release clause to sign Diego Costa and Filipe Luis in the 2014 summer transfer window.
But Atletico have no intention of letting Griezmann, Godin or Koke leave the Spanish capital and recently tied all three down to improved contracts, complete with significantly higher buy-out clauses.
That may not stop Chelsea pursuing them, however, with Mourinho keen to recruit several notable stars in a bid to save the Blues' season, and quite possibly his career in west London, when the transfer window reopens in January.
